PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and method for determining a trigger timing of CE-MRA (Contrast Enhanced-Magnetic Resonance Angiography) scan automatically and precisely.

SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus for determining the trigger timing of contrast-enhanced MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiography) scan includes a blood velocity acquiring part and a trigger-timing determining part. The blood velocity acquiring part acquires the blood velocity of a target blood vessel. During a monitoring scan period, the trigger-timing determining part determines the trigger timing for performing the contrast-enhanced MRA scan over a region for the contrast-enhanced MRA scan based on the blood velocity and a predetermined image collection condition.
