<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update with comparatively small memory capacity without evacuating software to the outside, and to prevent long-term restriction of use of a terminal even in case of updating failure. <P>SOLUTION: A memory area storing a main body program including an update engine for software updating and a substitution unit area to a unit area inside the memory area are provided in a nonvolatile memory. When updating the software, difference data between new and old versions of the main body program are downloaded, the update engine inside the memory area is developed to a working memory area, the update engine inside the working memory area is executed, and the main body program is updated in each the unit area by the difference data. When detecting defect of the unit area in time of the update, update of the unit area is performed to the substitution unit area, and the unit area of the defect is replaced with the substitutional unit area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
