PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the position of an input device viewed from the side of a main body of electronic equipment and to control a direction of the main body of the electronic equipment based on a result of the detection. SOLUTION: There are provided an input device 1 such as a remote controller, signal transmitting/receiving units 5, 6 mounted in a main body 2 of electronic equipment for transmitting/receiving information with the input device 1; and a main control unit 14 which controls these transmitting/receiving operations, wherein each of the signal transmitting/receiving units 5, 6 includes a function for transmitting a search signal toward the input device 1. The input device 1 has a function for transmitting a response signal to the search signal. The main control unit 14 has a position arithmetic specifying function for specifying a position of the input device 1 by calculating a distance between each of the signal transmitting/receiving units 5, 6 and the input device 1 based on a reception timing and propagation time information of a response signal received by the signal transmitting/receiving unit 5, 6. The main control unit 14 controls so that a display surface 2Aa of the main body 2 of electronic equipment is directed toward the input device 1 through a driving means for display surface direction of the main body 2 of electronic equipment.
