The element (114) has an element body (116) comprising shape memory alloy as a material, which is selected from nickel-titanium alloy, copper-zinc-aluminum alloy, gold-cadmium alloy, ferrous alloy, iron-platinum alloy and iron-manganese-silicon alloy. The shape memory alloy exhibits an inter-metallic nickel-titanium phase with a classified-cubical crystal structure, where nickel is in proportion of 40 to 70 percentages. The element body exhibits a round bar and/or threaded rod, and a bracket screw is provided with a screw body. An independent claim is also included for a method for connecting two workpieces by using a connecting element.
