PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod having adjustable length and proper operability, when holding an upper butt-section rod in a butt-section rod. SOLUTION: The fishing rod includes a length-adjusting mechanism 10, capable of keeping an upper butt-section rod 2 in an extended state and a contracted state relative to a butt-section rod 1. A length-adjusting joint region 2a is formed on the outer circumference of the upper butt-section rod 2, and a rotation preventing part 11 is formed on the inner surface of the tip-side of the butt-section rod 1, to prevent the circumferential rotation of the upper butt-section rod 2, by joining to the joint region 2a, when the upper butt-section rod 2 is stored in the butt-section rod 1. The butt-section rod 1 is provided at the base end side with a holding part 8a so as to hold the base end part of the upper butt-section rod 2, in a state of holding the upper butt-section rod 2 in the butt-section rod 1 and a guiding part 8b for guiding the base-end part of the upper butt-section rod 2 toward the holding part 8a. The rotation-preventing part 11 and the guiding part 8b are placed, in such a manner that the base-end part of the upper butt-section rod 2 is guided by the guidance part 8b when the upper butt-section rod 2 is stored, and thereafter, the joint region 2a of the upper butt-section rod 2 is joined to the rotation-preventing part 11.
