A thin film battery is provided to increase contact area between an electrode and electrolyte, to uniformly form thin films which successively are laminated on the etched surface, and to improve capacity and power density of the thin film battery. A thin film battery comprises a substrate(1); a first collector formed on the substrate; a cathode formed on the first collector; an electrolyte layer formed on the cathode; an anode formed on the electrolyte layer; and a second collector contacted with the anode. At least one of grooves having terraced both sides is formed on the surface of the substrate or the first collector. Other elements are deposited on the top of the substrate or the first collector.
