<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of adjusting a distribution of brightness without using a light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: The optical module 20 includes a reflecting sheet 21, an auxiliary optical sheet 35 arranged at a position opposite to the reflecting sheet, a polarized optical sheet 50 arranged at a position opposite to the auxiliary optical sheet, and a light source 25 for irradiating light to a zone between the polarized optical sheet and the auxiliary optical sheet.
