ENGINE CONTROL METHOD FOR HYBRID VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control method for a hybrid vehicle capable of improving fuel consumption and output efficiency for the hybrid vehicle.

SOLUTION: The engine control system for a hybrid vehicle includes: a step of continuing detection of output required power under an engine off state of the hybrid vehicle and determining whether or not the required power exceeds a preset engine delay starting power; a step of determining whether the required power exceeds a preset engine non-delay starting power; and a step of starting the engine when the required power exceeds the engine non-delay starting power within a first set time period after exceeding the engine delay starting power.
