The invention relates to a device for controlling an air stream, comprising a control slat (20) mounted so as to swivel in a housing (12) and second slats (24) extending orthogonally with respect to the control slat (20) and so as to swivel in the housing (12). Both the direction of the air stream exiting from the housing (12) and also the quantity of air streaming out can be set by means of the slats. An operating element (18) arranged by means of a bearing web (16) on an air outlet region (14) of the housing (12) is arranged orthogonally with respect to the longitudinal axis of the control slat (20) so as to swivel and is coupled to a first bevel gear (34) rotatably mounted on the bearing web (16) and to the control slat (20). The first bevel gear (34) is in engagement with a second bevel gear (40). The second bevel gear (40) is coupled to a lever arrangement (22) which has at least one rotatably mounted first coupling member (58) which is coupled to at least one first coupling rod (66) and the at least one first coupling rod (66) is coupled to the second slats (24).
