<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer having a line type thermal head arranged with a plurality of heating elements in which print control can be performed with low power consumption by split printing without causing degradation of print quality or significant decrease of print speed. SOLUTION: When a recording sheet 14 is carried while being pulled in direction A, only first half heating elements of 1-m dots out of 2m heating elements of a thermal head 20 are driven and the upper half data of a print dot pattern data stored in an image data memory is printed, line by line, from the head line to the end line in synchronism with pulling-in of the recording sheet 14 dot by dot. At the time discharging the recording sheet 14 in the direction B, only the second half heating elements of m+1-2m are driven and the lower half pattern data of the print dot pattern data is printed, line by line, from the end line to the head line in synchronism with discharging of the recording sheet 14 dot by dot.</p> |
