A mobile terminal, a messenger method thereof, and a phone book list exchange method of a base station are provided to enable a user to exchange slips or dialogue messages freely with other users who do not use instant messengers and other users who use individual messenger servers. A mobile terminal(10) comprises a messenger part(30), a memory(21), a radio part(18), a phone book list management part(32), and a display part(16). The messenger part(30) executes an instant messenger. The memory(21) stores a phone book list. The radio part(18) transmits and receives the phone book list with a base station. The phone book list management part(32) controls the process that the radio part(18) transmits and receives the phone book list with the base station, and updates the stored phone book list into a phone book list received from the base station. The display part(16) displays the execution of the instant messenger.
