PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a diesel engine oil having excellent base number remaining properties and acid neutrality and excellent long drainage. SOLUTION: The diesel engine oil comprises a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil as a base oil, 1-8 mass% of salicylate-based cleaning agent and 0.005-0.03 mass% of a diphenylamine derivative as an additive and has≤1.1 mass% of sulfate ash. The salicylate-based cleaning agent is preferably a Ca salicylate-based cleaning agent and the diphenylamine derivative is preferably diphenylamine or an alkyl substitution product of diphenylamine with a 1-12C alkyl group.
