<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical stapling apparatus provided with an articulating mechanism for use with an endoscopic surgical stapling apparatus for sequentially applying a plurality of surgical fasteners to body tissue and optionally incising tissue fastened by the fasteners. <P>SOLUTION: The surgical stapling apparatus 10 comprises a housing 36, a movable handle 24 supported by the housing 36, an elongated body 14 which extends distally from the housing 36 and defines a longitudinal axis, an actuation shaft at least partially supported inside the housing 36, a loading unit 16 supported at the distal end of the elongated body, and an articulation mechanism including a lever and a cam member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
