<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus whose sense of use and usability by a user are improved by improving the method of alarm display. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, when a function for executing an operation accompanied by the use of consumables as objects for alarm display is specified by an execution function specification means while the alarm display is displayed on a display part, the display content of the display part is still the alarm display and not switched to information corresponding to one function specified by the execution function specification means. Thus, since an opportunity to give an execution instruction of an operation by an operation execution instruction means is lost by prohibiting display switching when it is decided that there is a possibility of executing a function which can not be used due to shortage of the residual quantity of the consumables by the user, troublesomeness to the alarm display, etc. is reduced and when the alarm display is necessary, the alarm display is surely performed.
