PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve higher removing performance while suppressing wear of an object to be cleaned and a blade itself as compared with the conventional counter system, and to suppress occurrence of blade turnup with a simplified structure. SOLUTION: In a cleaning device, a blade 31 that is longer in a photoconductor axial direction is used and the contact edge of the blade extending in the longitudinal direction is pressed against the surface of a photoconductor 10 to remove a deposit on the photoconductor surface. The blade includes two surfaces: an upstream side surface 31a and a downstream side surface 31b. The two surfaces adjoin each other with respect to the contact edge. The upstream side surface 31a has a longer dimension in the direction orthogonal to the contact edge than that of the downstream side surface 31b. The horizontal portion 32A of a blade holder 32 that restricts a warp of the blade is bonded on the opposed surface to the upstream side surface of the blade. The blade is held via the horizontal portion with a vertical portion 32B of the blade holder 32 supported by the main body 33 of the cleaning device in the downstream of a normal line N of a contact point P on the photoconductor surface in contact with the contact edge, in the photoconductor-surface moving direction.
