PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage of an electron source due to spark-induced large current flowing in a spacer in an FED (Field Emission Display). SOLUTION: A high-resistance element 43 of volume resistance larger than that of the spacer 4 is applied in a belt-like form to a side face of the slightly conductive spacer 4. Sparking occurs very rapidly, so that spark current is rich in high frequency components and flows on the surface of the spacer 4. The high-resistance film 43 is formed on the side face of the spacer 4 to reduce the spark current. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
