PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator cable having excellent bending resistance and to provide a method for manufacturing the elevator cable.SOLUTION: An elevator cable comprises at least one unit cable and a sheath for sheathing the at least one unit cable, and the unit cable has at least one insulated electric wire which includes a conductor and an insulation layer sheathing the conductor. In the elevator cable the at least one unit cable is produced by extruding and being sheathed by resin composition for forming a sheath. The sheath includes a polyolefin resin. The insulation layer of the insulated electric wire is produced by crosslinking a crosslinkable polyolefin resin in an insulation-layer forming resin composition containing the crosslinkable polyolefin resin and polyorganosiloxane. In the insulation-layer forming resin composition, the polyorganosiloxane is blended in a ratio of 4.5 to 20 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the crosslinkable olefin resin.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
