PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element in which a phosphorescent dopant having a low HOMO energy level is used, and which is excellent in handleability in the air and also good in chromaticity stability during drive time.SOLUTION: An organic EL element of the present invention is characterized in that the HOMO (D) of a phosphorescent dopant satisfies the following conditional expression (1), the HOMO (H) of a host compound and the HOMO (D) of the phosphorescent dopant satisfy the following conditional expression (2), and the HOMO (A) of a compound A contained in an anode side adjacent layer and the HOMO (EML) that is either higher one of the HOMO of the host compound or the HOMO of the phosphorescent dopant, the host compound and the phosphorescent dopant being contained in a luminous layer, satisfy the following conditional expression (3). -6.50 eV≤HOMO(D)≤-5.50 eV (1) -0.30 eV<HOMO(H)-HOMO(D)≤1.30 eV (2) 0.10 eV≤HOMO(A)-HOMO(EML)≤1.00 eV (3)SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
