PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fire retardant resin composition having good dielectric characteristics together with good fire retardant properties, and having good heat resistance to soldering at a high temperature and humidity. SOLUTION: This method for producing a fire retardant resin composition comprises reacting a cyanate compound, which has two or more cyanate groups in a molecule, with a compound selected from epoxy resins, phenols and imido resins so that the cyanate compound is reacted to attain a conversion of 10-70%, then mixing the formed oligomer from the above reaction with a fire retardant additive at a temperature of <=150 deg.C in a molten and softened state. The laminated sheet contains a cured product made from the obtained fire retardant resin composition as a matrix.
