PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expandable resin composition, from which there is obtained a uniform rubber elastomer having excellent durabilities or resistances such as a heat resistance, weatherability, waterproofing, a resistance to chemicals and the like and excellent mechanical strength and which can overcome the problems involved in hitherto known polymer compounds using non- polar compounds, i.e., poor miscibility with a hydroxyl group-containing compound, poor storage stability, a great distribution of cell diameter created upon expansion and the like. SOLUTION: The expandable resin composition comprises, as essential components, (A) an isobutylene polymer that, respectively, has two or more alkenyl groups and hydroxyl groups on average in one molecule, both of which are capable of undergoing hydrosilylation reaction, (B) a compound having four or more silicon atom-bonded hydrogen atoms on average in one molecule, and (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The use of the composition can overcome the problem on the miscibility, and ensures good storage stability and a narrow distribution of cell diameter.
