PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article carrying device to collect plural lines of intermittently supplied articles into a line to be continuously discharged in which various carrying patterns can be selected to provide generality, and in which positioning precision will not be reduced even in high speed operation. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a rotary carrying mechanism 23 to rotate and carry a number of empty bag holding members (indicated with empty bags W) disposed at a constant interval along a circular track having a pair of parallel parts, and a reciprocating drive mechanism 24 to reciprocate the whole body of the rotary carrying mechanism 23 along the parallel part for a specified distance, and the empty bag holding members are intermittently moved for a distance L of an installation interval (p) of the empty bag holding members multiplied by an integer number on the supply side A of the parallel part, and continuously moved at a constant speed on the discharge side B of the parallel part. On the supply side A, the empty bag W is supplied to the empty bag holding member at the time of a stop, and on the discharge side B, the empty bag is discharged downward from the empty bag holding member to be inserted into a groove of a retainer R carried at a constant speed.
