PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a completely automated method and apparatus for putting a stocking on a tube absolutely without using manual work. SOLUTION: This apparatus for putting a stocking A on a face mold B is provided with a 1st chamber 4 and a 2nd chamber 5 formed in the middle of an air pipe 1, a shutter valve 3 for opening and closing the air flow in the air pipe 1 placed at the upstream of the chambers and a nipple 6 for introducing compressed air placed between the shutter valve 3 and the 1st chamber 4. In the 1st chamber 4 and the 2nd chamber 5, a suction force is exerted in the air pipe 1 when a suction air is applied to the outer pipes 4a, 5a. A finger 8 for holding the opening (a) of a stocking A is placed at the tip end of the downstream side of the air pipe 1. The opening (a) of the stocking A transferred in the air pipe 1 is opened by the suction force of air by controlling the suction air in, the air pipe 1 and the compressed air introduced into the air pipe 1 and the opened part is held with the finger 8 and automatically put on the face mold B.
