The circular swathing machine, to be towed by a tractor, has a support frame (1) with a rotating ring-shaped carrier frame (8) with a number of tines (7). The ring frame is rotated by a carrier unit (12) with a gearing (10), to be coupled to the tractor drive shaft. The carrier unit is fitted to the support frame through a universal joint assembly (20-31), and has units (15,16) to register the lie of the ground.
