METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOTE LASER WELDING FOR NUCLEAR FUEL ROD CAPABLE OF PERMITTING COMPONENTS TO BE REPLACED THROUGH THE USE OF REMOTE CONTROLLER

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus are provided to achieve improved accuracy of welding of rod ends, and prevent accidents by permitting components to be replaced through the use of a remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a step(S1) of opening the welding box arranged in a shield chamber by using a remote controller, fixing a nuclear fuel rod and a cap in the welding box, and closing the welding box; a step(S2) of forming a predetermined level of vacuum by discharging air from the closed welding box, and charging the welding box with a helium gas; a step(S3) of moving the cap in the welding box and press-fitting the cap to the end of the nuclear fuel rod; a step(S4) of focusing the welding portion of the nuclear fuel rod and the cap by using a helium-neon laser; and a step(S5) of welding the contact portion between the nuclear fuel rod and the cap by rotating the nuclear fuel rod and the cap in a circumferential direction and radiating YAG laser through a welding nozzle.
