HEAT INSULATING REFRACTORY COMPRISING BASALT FIBER AS MAIN COMPONENT, BENTONITE, SODIUM SILICATE AND POLY(VINYL ACETATE), AND THE COMPOSITION

PURPOSE: A heat insulating refractory composition comprising a basalt fiber as a main component and a heat insulating refractory prepared from the composition are provided, to improve refractory property and heat insulation and to reduce the generation of harmful gases in burning. CONSTITUTION: The heat insulating refractory composition comprises 80-93.5 wt% of a basalt fiber cut into a certain size; 4-12 wt% of bentonite as an inorganic binder; 2-4 wt% of sodium silicate as a co-binder; and 0.5-4 wt% of a poly(vinyl acetate) as an organic binder. Preferably the basalt fiber cut into a certain size comprises 80-90 wt% of a first fiber with a diameter of 4-10 micrometers and 10-20 wt% of a second fiber with a diameter of 25-70 micrometers.
