PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display element that has high voltage retention ratio and controlled residual charge, a liquid crystal aligning agent, a polyamic acid or its derivative for manufacturing the liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: The composition comprises two or more kinds of polyamic acids or their derivatives of (A) a polyamic acid, obtained by reacting a diamine A1 containing a diamine represented by general formula (I) or (I') (n is an integer of 1 or 2) with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride A2, or its derivative A and (B) a polyamic acid, obtained by reacting a diamine B1 containing a side-chain structure with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride B2, or its derivative B.
