PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition exhibiting high durability to the skin, the hair and the mucosa, readily rinsable with water, and producing rigid foams imparting thick feeling and handling effect when a consumer takes it on hand and spreads it. SOLUTION: The foaming cleansing composition comprises, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, (a) as active material, more than 2 wt.%, based on the total weight of the composition, of a non-betaine amphoteric or zwitterionic surfactant, (b) at least one nonionic surfactant and (c) at least one propellant, and contains no anionic surfactant. Use of this composition in an aerosol device containing such a composition and also in cosmetics or dermatology, in particular for cleansing keratin materials such as the skin, the hair or the scalp, is also provided.
