PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a tungsten carbide powder which makes it possible to easily obtain the tungsten carbide powder having excellent handling quality as raw material of material for cutting tools etc., and making it possible to improve characteristics of the material for the cutting tools etc., with good reproducibility. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the tungsten carbide powder includes a process of mixing a tungsten powder and a carbon powder having secondary particles of≤0.1μm in primary particle diameter and having a range of 5 to 10μm in secondary particle diameter. Further, the method has a process of generating the tungsten carbide powder by heating the powder mixture in a vacuum or non-oxidizing atmosphere. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
