PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copying machine capable of restraining toner from sticking to a secondary transfer member. SOLUTION: The copying machine includes: a fur brush roller 111 disposed to remove the residual toner on an intermediate transfer belt 8 after a transfer process, to which a voltage is applied so as to have a polarity opposite to that of the charge of the toner on a developing roller; a sensor 30 disposed to detect the toner equal to or more than a prescribed amount on the intermediate transfer belt 8; and a control part 25 to apply a voltage to a secondary transfer roller 92 so that it can have the polarity opposite to that of the charge of the toner on the developing rollers 45, 55, 65 and 75 when the intermediate transfer belt 8 and the secondary transfer roller 92 are rotated in contact with each other without interposing a paper sheet between them, and also, when the area of the intermediate transfer belt 8, where the toner is detected by the sensor 30 comes into contact with the secondary transfer roller 92 without interposing the paper sheet between them, and to apply the voltage to the secondary transfer roller 92 so that it can have the same polarity as that of the charge of the toner on the developing rollers in the case other than above.
