PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of improving response speed of liquid crystal without increasing breakdown strength of a driving element. SOLUTION: Upon the driving according to over drive system, a display drive is performed based on such an image signal (an image signal D2 after correction) that a voltage change between both ends of a liquid crystal elements LC becomes larger than the original voltage change in accordance with the image signal D1 of the present frame. After voltages between both ends of an auxiliary capacitance element Cs and the liquid crystal element LC are changed, such a voltage as to become larger than the original voltage in accordance with the image signal D1 before correction is applied between both ends of them and, thereby, such a display drive as to become larger than the original voltage change, that is, the driving according to over drive system is performed.
