PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot air generator suitable for drying a coated surface by blowing hot air when repairing an automobile body or the like by coating a repaired part with a coating, especially coating with water base paint. SOLUTION: This hot air generator comprises a heater, a heat accumulating member for accumulating heat from the heater, a container having a flow-in opening through which gas flows in, and a flow-out opening through which gas flows out. The heat accumulating member 6 is formed of a member having a plurality of ventilation paths, and the accumulating member is housed in a housing case so as to form heat accumulating body units 6a to 6b, and at least one side outer wall surface of the housing case of the accumulating body units is coated with a heat resistant infrared ray absorbing coating, and heaters 9a and 9b are arranged on the wall surface coated with the coating, and housed in the container 3.
