摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping force generating structure for a hydraulic shock absorber for improving setting flexibility for the passage length of a choke passage which generates damping force in a low speed region of a piston. SOLUTION: The damping force generating structure for the hydraulic shock absorber 100 comprises a laminated leaf valve 12 which is deflected by a pressure difference between a rod side oil chamber 3 and an counter rod side oil chamber 4 to open a valve port 6b, and a rod 5 on which the piston (a valve disc) 2 and the laminated leaf valve 12 fitted to each other are mounted. A choke groove 41 is formed to be opened along an outer peripheral face 5f of the rod 5, and the choke passage 40 is formed between the choke groove 41 and an inner peripheral face 12i of the laminated leaf valve 12 to always connect the rod side oil chamber 3 with the counter rod side oil chamber 4.
