PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for getting over a step of the floor surface in an air cushion type heavy cargo moving apparatus. SOLUTION: This air cushion type heavy cargo moving apparatus includes: a frame 2; a slide table 4 which is mounted on the frame 2 to move forward and backward for placing a heavy cargo 7; supports 5A to 5J horizontally supporting the frame 2 above the floor surface 10; air cushion elements 6A to 6J provided below the respective supports 5A to 5J to jet high-pressure air from an air nozzle to form an air layer in a space up to the floor surface 10; and an operating means 40 for performing expansion/contraction operation of the air cushion elements 6A to 6J.
