PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range detecting device for realizing high detection accuracy. SOLUTION: The range detecting device of this invention comprises a movable body 44 having an operating part 67 and reciprocating according to selection of a range of an automatic transmission, a detecting means having a sensor 70 for sensing the position of the movable body 44 by receiving physical action from the operating part 67 and detecting the range based on the sensing result of the sensor 70, and wiping bodies 80, 81 for wiping the operating part 67 by sliding of the moving movable body 44.
