PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an excellent composite material.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a composite material includes: growing a layer of reinforcement; and impregnating the layer with a matrix. The reinforcement layer may be formed by a chemical vapor deposition process. The method can be used as an additive layer-manufacturing technique to form a component with a desired shape and physical characteristics, or can be used to form a thin sheet material.
