PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator capable of improving heat exchange performance, and capable of thinning. SOLUTION: This evaporator has a core 1 longitudinally juxtaposed with upstream side and downstream side heat exchange tube groups P1 and P2, and upper side and lower side header members 10 and 50 arranged on both upper-lower ends of the core 1. The inside of the upper side header member is longitudinally partitioned, and inlet side and outlet side tanks 11 and 12 are formed. One end of respective tubes 6 in the upstream side tube group P1 is connected to the inlet side tank 11, and the other end is connected to the lower side header member 50. One end of respective tubes 7 in the downstream side tube group P2 is connected to the outlet side tank 12, and the other end is connected to the lower side header member 50. While a refrigerant flowing in the inlet side tank 11 is introduced to the outlet side tank 12 by flowing in the upstream tube group P1, the lower side header member 50 and the downstream tube group P2, a refrigerant flowing in both heat exchange tube groups P1 and P2 is evaporated by exchanging heat with outside air A.
