PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator rope reeving method capable of detaching a receiving fixture from a guide rail without providing any scaffolding on a hoistway. SOLUTION: A main rope 12 is reeved between turning pulleys 5a, 5b provided on at least a top of a hoistway, a car lower pulley 14a provided on a lower part of a car frame 14, a counterweight pulley 7a provided on a counterweight frame 7, and a hoist sheave 6a for transmitting the driving force to the main rope 12. Then, the hoist sheave 6a is driven to lower a car 15 assembled from the car frame. A receiving part of a receiving fixture 9 connected to the counterweight frame 7 is detached by the counterweight frame 7 elevated in a can hoisting manner according thereto, and the counterweight frame 7 is lowered to the position below the receiving fixture 9 with its receiving part detached therefrom.
