PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure diagnostic device for a combustion improving means, in which failure of the combustion improving means can be detected at low cost and with high detection performance for each corresponding cylinder. SOLUTION: The failure diagnostic device is for diagnosing failure of a current control valve 58 disposed at an intake port 52a that is communicated with a combustion chamber 57 of an internal combustion engine 50 so as to improve the combustion state. It is provided with a failure determination means to determine failure of the combustion improving means for every corresponding cylinder based on the locus length of variation of a crank angle acceleration for every cylinder in the internal combustion engine within a prescribed time after the internal combustion engine 50 is started.
