A variable capacity swash plate type compressor is provided to mitigate concentration of stress on the corner of a hollow when a piston compresses a refrigerant to improve the durability of the piston and extend the lifetime of the compressor. A variable capacity swash plate type compressor includes a cylinder block(110), a piston(115), front and rear heads(120,130), a driving shaft(140), a rotor(150) and a swash plate(160). The cylinder block includes a center bore(111) and a plurality of cylinder bores(113) radially arranged. The cylinder bores compress a refrigerant. The piston compresses the refrigerant. The piston includes a hollow for reducing the weight. The front and rear heads are respectively attached to both ends of the cylinder block. The driving shaft penetrates the front head and the cylinder block. The rotor is located in a crank case(121). The crank case is formed by the front head and the cylinder block. The rotor rotates with the driving shaft. The swash plate is attached to the driving shaft. The angle at which the swash plate is attached to the driving shaft is varied with discharging capacity.
