PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bio-electrochemical systems for treating wastewater, and sour gas produced by anaerobic digestion of organic material.SOLUTION: A bio-electrochemical system comprises a reaction chamber. A support structure including conductive wires and exoelectrogenic microbes in proximity to an anode in two or more anode/cathode pairs arranged in the reaction chamber are arranged in the vertical direction. A voltage is applied to the anode and cathode to allow water or gas to flow upwards in the reaction chamber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
