PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus including a density correction part that corrects image density on the basis of a density detected by a density detection sensor 35, and suppress scraping of an intermediate transfer belt 5 occurring by a positioning surface 37 arranged opposite to the density detection sensor 35 brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the belt 5.SOLUTION: A positioning member 36 comprises: a positioning surface 37 that is brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of an intermediate transfer belt 5 to position the intermediate transfer belt 5 with respect to a density detection sensor 35; and a cleaning surface 38 that is coated with a cleaning member 39 having a lower hardness than that of the positioning surface 37 and is brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the intermediate transfer belt 5 with the cleaning member 39 therebetween. During execution of correction processing by a density correction part, the positioning surface 37 of the positioning member 36 is brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the intermediate transfer belt 5, and during non-execution of the correction processing by the density correction part, the cleaning surface 38 of the positioning ember 36 is brought into contact with the intermediate transfer belt 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
