PURPOSE: An information processing unit which controls an electrical appliance, a program executing method, and a program are provided to automatically perform the setup operation of the electrical appliance or a reading of setup information after specifying a kind of electrical appliance. CONSTITUTION: An electrical appliance detecting module (11) detects an electrical appliance which is connected to a network. A kind-related information determining module (12) determines the kind-related information of the detected electrical appliance. A first program executing module (17) selects a program which corresponds to the kind-related information based on the determined kind-related information. The first program executing module executes the selected program in the corresponding electrical appliance and a device which is able to communicate. The program executing module generates a page in which the kind-related information of the electrical appliance is written up. The program executing module executes a program which enables a reading about the corresponding page from another device.
