PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic signal recognition device capable of recognizing the type of a lit signal in a short amount of time and with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A system controller 20 for a navigation device 1 acquires an image of surroundings of a traffic signal with a camera 14 mounted on a vehicle. The system controller 20 also stores a first luminance classified to be a minimum luminance value for each pixel within an object range based on a plurality images acquired during an object period when the vehicle is in a stopped state. In addition, the system controller 20 calculates a difference between a luminance value based on at least one image among a plurality of images acquired during the object period or immediately after the period for each pixel with the first luminance value. Then, the system controller 20 recognizes a type of a lit signal based on the shape formed by pixels whose luminance difference is equal to or greater than a prescribed threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
