An undersea hydraulic coupling member comprises a floating seal 20 inserted into a receiving chamber 11 of a female coupling member. The floating seal 20 has a smaller outer diameter than the receiving chamber 11 the thus the seal 20 is radially movable within the receiving chamber 11. The floating seal 20 has at least one axially engageable seal 40 positioned adjacent a first end thereof, at least one axially engageable seal 41 positioned adjacent a second end thereof, and at least one sealing surface 22, 23 extending radially inwardly from the floating seal 20. The floating seal 20 can have an elastomeric body with a first smaller outer diameter and a second larger outer diameter and an o-ring 40, 41 positioned in a groove adjacent first and second ends of the floating seal 20. The female coupling member can have a shoulder 18 intermediate the receiving chamber 11 and a retaining nut 30 which is configured to hold and restrict axial movement of the floating seal 20 between the retainer nut 30 and the shoulder 18.
