PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of improving a manufacturing yield of a polarizing beam splitter array and reducing a cost thereof. SOLUTION: Slant faces of parallelogram prisms 2, 3 are stuck to each other alternately by a plurality of pieces, wherein polarization separation parts 4 are formed on slant faces of the upper side of the prisms 2 and reflection parts 5 are formed on slant faces of the lower side in the figure of the prisms 2. The slant faces of the prisms 2 are bonded to the slant faces of the prisms 3 with an optical adhesive 6. Thus, the slant faces of parallelogram prisms 2, 3 are stuck to each other alternately by a plurality of pieces and 1/2 wavelength plates 7 are bonded to emission surfaces 3b of the prisms 3 to constitute a polarizing beam splitter array 1. Therein, a wire grid polarization separation element 4 is used as the polarization separation part 4 and a reflection film made of multilayer film of dielectric such as TiO<SB>2</SB>and SiO<SB>2</SB>or a reflection film of aluminum film is used as the reflection part 5.
