PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether tissue properties of inner surfaces of a tubular organ are fibrous or lipid by processing an image showing a cross section acquired by detecting reflected wave signals of ultrasound. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus, which is equipped with a catheter (C) where an ultrasonic probe (T) is mounted, a drive part (1) for rotating the catheter (C) about an axis and moving it axially, a catheter operation control part (2), an ultrasonic probe control part (3) for controlling the operation of the ultrasonic probe (T), a signal processing part (5) for processing signals acquired by the ultrasonic probe (T), and a control part (10), generates images showing a set of cross sections of the tubular organ from the signals acquired by the ultrasonic probe (T), align those images for generating a difference image formed by differences of adjacent images, generates an accumulated difference image generated by accumulating the difference images, and generates a binarized, accumulated difference image to determine the tissue properties by the processing to binarize the accumulated difference image.
