PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a power hop state in which a vehicle may possibly be damaged, and take such measures as the one for alleviating the power hop state in that case. SOLUTION: A plurality of signals which are serial are obtained including current and previous signals of forward-backward acceleration for a vehicle 101. The period and amplitude of the serial signals are determined, and whether or not the combination of the period and the amplitude of each of the serial signals exceeds a first prescribed value PH_Map1 is determined. Whether or not the combination of the period and the amplitude of the current signal exceeds a second prescribed value PH_Map2 that is greater than the first prescribed value PH_Map1 is determined. The power hop state is detected when the combination of the period and the amplitude of the current signal exceeds the first prescribed value PH_Map1, depending on whether or not the combination of the period and the amplitude of the current signal exceeds the second prescribed value PH_Map2.
