PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file sharing system for increasing obstacle resistivity and a method for generating single logical directory configurations by using the file sharing system. SOLUTION: A first site 1 provides a logical directory 8 configured across nodes 3 in the first site 1 to a client 6. Remote copy is executed between the first site 1 and the second site 2, and the data of the both sites 1 and 2 are synchronized. A common management table T is used for the generation of the logical directory 8 and the management of the remote copy, and this management table T is stored in all nodes 3. When the first site stops due to failure, the second site uses information related with remote copy in the management table T for the construction of the logical directory 8, and reproduces the logical directory 8 in the second site 2.
