PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device with which it is possible to discriminate other vehicles from road signs, etc., and accurately determine a preceding vehicle and an oncoming vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle detection device 1 comprises an image-capturing device 4 for capturing the image of an external area of the vehicle itself, and a vehicle detection unit 5 for detecting other vehicles present in the external area on the basis of light spots in the captured image. The image-capturing device 4 has an image-capturing element 43 provided with a green light sensor 432G for receiving green-based light and a red light sensor 432R for receiving red-based light. The vehicle detection unit 5 discriminates between other vehicles and objects on the basis of the received light values of the green light sensor 432G and the red light sensor 432R. Furthermore, a preceding vehicle and an oncoming vehicle are discriminated from the arithmetic result of these received light values.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
