PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging lens which has a wide angle of view and aberrations satisfactorily corrected and an imaging apparatus including the imaging lens.SOLUTION: The imaging lens comprises, in order from an object side, a negative first lens group G1, a diaphragm St, and a positive second lens group G2. The first lens group G1 comprises, in order from the object side, a first-a lens group G1a which comprises one positive lens and three negative lenses and is negative as a whole and a first-b lens group G1b which has two or more positive lenses and one or more negative lenses and is positive as a whole. The second lens group G2 includes, in order from the object side, a positive lens, a second-a cemented lens C2a in which a negative lens and a positive biconvex lens are cemented in this order from the object side, and a second-b cemented lens C2b in which a positive biconvex lens and a negative lens are cemented in this order from the object side.
